Education learning and technology is never necessarily restricted by technology, there are various methods of transferring learning over CD/DVD, emails, voice data and thus it still reaches places with limited reach and remote areas. It has thus become an integral part of our lives and society and comprises of various digitization and delivery techniques.
Another growing field in the area of educational learning is mobile based learning, which allows us to use mobile technology as a method of learning. With the widespread use of mobile phone ans smartphones this is a quick and easy way to propagate learning through fun learning games and apps.

Micro Learning Tips to improve online learning experience

Improve online learning experience

Improve online learning with a few micro learning tips

Technique #1 Online micro gamesStudent and people in general have more grasping power when a tutor or system engages them more, The methods of learning therefore should be such that it will allow students and learners to understand and grasp more and to interact with the system and lessons taught. A game development should be such that it emerges the player and helps them learn more from the process even if the user doesn't win they should be inclined to play again and again. For examples a game designed for customer service training should be such that they should be targeted and taught in such a way to help players learn and answer questions in a fun way to advance to next level.
Technique #2: Podcasts which are based on lessonsEducational podcasts are the most interesting techniques used these days, podcasts are basically pre-recorded information which can be distributed far and wide. This type of education can give the listeners and viewers collect very important information which would be hard to come by without having an instructor; right from their offices and homes and even on their mobile devices while travelling. What is even better is that you don't have to devote large chunks of time to gather all this information as podcasts are to the point, structured and concise so listeners can devote full attention and grasp everything easily without wasting time.
Technique #3: Slideshows and multimedia presentationsSlide shows and sharing sites that provide online pdf or image based learning are getting more popular each and every day. The reason for their wide appeal is that they benefit and help each and every person. This type of learning is suitable for all employees, students, and just about any viewer as they can easily grab all the information through video, audio and interactive techniques. These slideshows provide all the information in a few minutes and based on the learning speed of individual as they can move through each slide at their own pace, without the risk of missing out anything. This type of learning is best for in-depth classes, explanations and illustrations so that every individual can learn the best they can.

Schools and their use of online learning technology

Why use online learning technology in schools

Following are the 3 main advantages of using online learning in schools
✓ Convenience
The main reason anyone will choose online learning over class based learning is convenience. Students have the ability to learn while on vacation from home or even on vacation. Parents also get the flexibility to take students on vacations and they don't have to stick in their own cities during breaks. Students also get to manage their pace of learning.
✓ Time efficiency
Online learning is very time efficient, there is a lot of time saving while travelling, for introductions and breaks. Also not all students are at the same pace when learning so this gives them efficiency in managing their pace and be more efficient in using the available time resources.
✓ Accessibility
The most important feature of e-learning is accessibility, students have access to study material, lectures, resources almost every day and every hour. This is a great boon for any one interested in learning. This also is useful when ever students would like to review their material. There are also options for teachers to records their teaching so students can access them anywhere online at their own convenience. Student also get an option to share their knowledge and inputs with tutors and fellow students via the online platform without feeling shy and this creates a collaborative synergy among students.

Open Coursework - New Ideas of Online Learning

Open courses; the next big thing in elearning

The last 15 years have been a great learning cycle for many learners and online education in general has undergone a lot of changes over this time, regarding the open nature of learning methodologies, training techniques and the available resources. The first generation os technologies like WEBCT & BlackBoard were more proprietary and restrictiev in nature for the big organizations that choose to implement them for their students, after this came the open source revolution riding on creative commons licence  and learning methods, These methods were students centered and more flexible in terms of design and implementation.

These types of technologies like Moodle and Ilias riding on open content; created the open educational resource movement OER. Examples of such technologies are Connexions, LeMille, MIT Open Courseware and some other vendors.

The next stage of learning is the emergence of a personalized learning environment combined with wikis as a a riding technology. This type of environment is both open and in theory and process; this type allows a more challenging method of learning.

Massive Open Online Courses, provide a more radical technique of learning as all courses are available to just about anyone who is interested.

Digital Learning Technology

  1. The new age jobs;  Today's youth is more inclined to learn something new every day; because their skills are supposed to sty good for their future job work. The US Bureau of statistics states that by 2020 employment in all computer occupation is bound to increase by 22%. At the pace with which technologies are moving forward, some of the jobs will not have been invented yet.  While no one can now imagine what these jobs will be, they are sure to be rooted to be in technology. All policymakers and governments are taking note of this and this type of change is slowly and steadily happening.
  2. Common Core State StandardsThe common core standards CCSS are being implemented throughout the United States in 2014 and there is an emphasis on critical thinking, use of technology and writing in all curriculum. All organizations and educational companies are on board by using technologies and hardwares like tablets to bring digital textbooks and next generation of educational material to every classroom.
  3. Costs and expectations of all projects are shiftingMost of the skeptics revolve around the same issues surrounding the digital implementation; How to get funding? How to get equity? how to get tech support? and again how to get all three? While there are all important and valid questions; A full fledged implementation will require a change in thinking how our schools, society is currently spending money on education and how they would like to spend in the near future on education.

Online Language Learning System

Online Language Learning System

Targeted Learning Goals

Our online language learning system teaches the skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking, as well as the background on a foreign language and its culture. It is self-paced and provides regular, targeted feedback. It integrates activities, interactive text, audio portions, and visual stimuli to give learners the most engaging and effective experience with a new language. Our online learning system integrates words, phrases, and entire sentences in written and audio form, focused on developing proficiency in specific dialog topics.

Pedagogical Approach

Our online language learning system is able to support multiple pedagogical approaches, particularly in a blended-learning environment. The nature of Transparent Language’s primary customer base is such that the primary emphasis is on supporting faster, more reliable language acquisition and a more reliable transition from training to persistent and successful career-long sustainment and enhancement. Lexicon, grammar, and a variety of skills are important and intrinsic to language proficiency; good technology addresses all of those areas. However, the most significant and measurable improvements in which technology can be a primary differentiator are on the lexical side, where great technology can reduce the training time-to-outcome and increase the rate of successful transition to persistent sustainment. “Lexicon” in this context meant broadly to include words, phrases, patterns and other “chunks” of language. Up to at least the Intermediate level, the size and robustness of a learner’s lexicon correlates very tightly with overall proficiency. A more robust lexicon also offers significant advantages in the development of the language skills that are critical for advanced proficiency and beyond. Our default pedagogical method is a “Declarative first” approach that emphasizes the quick and effective development of basic memorized proficiency in a foreign language. The focus is on growing each learner’s lexical repertoire and then using those learned words and phrases in activities that provide multiple opportunities to utilize newly acquired content in various setting and contexts.

Languages are offered at all learning levels

Within the 80+ languages included in our repertoire is a variety of course and supplemental learning material.  This material is intended to support language learning, enhancement and sustainment for all levels of language learner.  Given that the preponderance of demand for language learning material exists at the Beginner to Advanced Beginner level more of the learning material available to our students is oriented to those levels.  Sufficient material and learning activities exist at higher levels to keep intermediate and advanced learners engaged in the learning system.  Below is a listing of the courses, with brief descriptions and specifications including the amount of learning material available.  For all of the items below there are some variations amongst the various languages.

Supplemental Vocabulary Lessons

The Supplemental Vocabulary series is a set of vocabulary lessons designed to help beginner to intermediate learners build and sustain a robust and functional vocabulary of words and phrases. The lessons are a fun, easy, and quick way to get started learning or build on existing skills. These paired language lessons use the learner’s native or known language to support the instruction in the target language.  Each collection is organized into themed sets as listed below. Each Vocabulary lesson contains 8 engaging and increasingly challenging activities that lead towards mastery of the words, phrases, and expressions a person needs to know to understand and convey the basics for survival and to participate in typical, everyday interactions.   In addition each lesson includes an assessment to verify that the material has been learned. The core of our vocabulary building system uses a 5-step flash card learning process. This rapid learning system is based on a proven method that takes learners through a series of simple steps to memorize words and phrases. Each lesson takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete. In addition to the rapid flash card based learning system, our learning tools also include a set of activities specifically designed to drive vocabulary acquisition and retention, including the EveryVoice™ pronunciation practice and speech driven activities.
